In the exhibition “Headfirst into Art” from Sunday (April 21, 2014) in the Museum Ostwall in Dortmunder U, visitors can experience art spaces in a playful way. The museum management presented this on Friday (April 19). Extensive works by international artists are lined up next to each other to form a course of eight installations. You can touch everything, walk through seemingly solid walls and even design it yourself, as five elementary school children demonstrated at a preview.
A special highlight: With a small lantern, magical shadow creatures with glowing eyes can be directed in a dark room and schools of golden fish can be conjured up. “At first they are afraid of us, then they like us,” reported nine-year-old Eva. “With the light we can move them and paint entrances on the wall for them. That feels awesome,” said her eight-year-old colleague Samson. The work works via a complex system that uses four sensors in the room and a connected chip in the lantern, as the artist and programmer Joon Moon explained.
